In Egypt, King Tut's face is unveiled for the first time in 3000 years where he is now on display in a glass box for tourists who visit his tomb in Luxor.
Fragile Mummy
The mystery surrounding King Tutankhamen -- who ruled during the 18th dynasty and ascended to the throne at age 8 -- and his glittering gold tomb has entranced fans of ancient Egypt since Carter's discovery, which revealed a trove of fabulous gold and precious stone treasures and propelled the once-forgotten pharaoh to global stardom.
Tut wasn't Egypt's most powerful or important king, but his staggering treasures, rumors of a mysterious curse that plagued Carter and his team -- debunked by experts long ago -- and several books and TV documentaries dedicated to him have added to his mystique.
Above is a "reconstruction" of his face, built after 1700 CT scans by a team of forensic artists and scientists. He doesn't look at all like Steve Martin.

Posted by: amy at August 29, 2008 10:05 AMthis is very interesting facts about kig tut
Posted by: tavianna at August 29, 2008 2:53 PMthis is so strange how a king at 19 would just die. but people say that he died of a misquito bite but that's part of it and other people say that he died of injury in war. that's not part.but i now what happend. from the picture that person isn't king tut. he is a fake. and the mask isn't what he looks like.the king wan't that rich and royal or didn't get respected that much only his servants respected him that's why they are4 his servants. he died of a deasiss, misquito bite and a fight with one of his best friends and one night when he was asleep his friend had like a hard black rock and he crushed it on the back of his head. it was a mix. it was murder and of a misquito bite on his left cheek. because if you look really hard you can find a dot and that's the mosquito bite. i want to become a sientist when i grow up and i saw that he had the royal king size and the king face of his father that was married to the bad queen. queen nefertiti.
Posted by: sarah wilson at September 3, 2008 4:21 PMWouldn't his skin tone be a bit darker? and nose more wide spread?
Posted by: darwingroupie at September 4, 2008 3:49 PMEgyptians are not "black." They are African in the sense that they live in Africa, but ethnically speaking they are closer to people of Arab or European descent then they are to people of African descent. Egyptians are Africans but they are not "black" like other groups of African origin.
Posted by: Blue at September 6, 2008 8:27 PMFirst of, there is no such thing as a "Black" race. Africans were label "Black" by North American slave traders to create a framework for racial discrimination.
Egyptians(Modern and Ancient) with the exception of the Black Nubians/people of Kemit(southern lower 1/4 of Egypt and the Sudan) conquered by the Arabs(Middle Eastern), are Semitic White like the closely related Jews(Middle Eastern), as proven by both DNA tests(haplo groups) on mummies and modern Egyptians(Semitic White) and Nubian Egyptians(Black) as well as skeletal points and measurements(mainly the skull).
The Black Nubians made pacts with the Arabs to be Pharoahs to avoid total annhilation. For about a hundred years, there were Black Nubian Egyptian Dynasties. The Arabs gave Egypt(Arabic-since 5,000 B.C.) its name.
The different skin colors of the Egyptians on walls demonstrates the differences in the two ethinicities. King TUT has many facial features of an ethnic mix(half Arab Semitic White/half Nubian Black),often represented anywhere from a golden brown color to a Black color, like Anwar Sadat(father- Egyptian Arab Semitic White-mother-Black Sudanese) denied this until shortly before his death.
Many of the people on wall art are, in fact, Black Nubian Egyptian slaves(also some free) as well as peoples of other ethnic backgrounds(small sampling of the Arabs(Semitic Whites) and other peoples(Blacks and other ethinicities and admixtures):
Most Arabs (Semitic White) have swarthy olive-colored(golden brown) skin like some European Whites-Iranians/Persians-IndoEuropean Aryans(are NOT Arab although speak Arabic and many are Muslim) as in Hitler, Greeks, Italians, southern Germans and so on.
In 2050 when Caucasians are no longer the majority in America, you will probably see "new" DNA results and classifications suddenly appear.
Posted by: Red at September 7, 2008 12:33 AMhe looks like a girl
Posted by: stephanie at September 8, 2008 10:42 PMErm, this is all quite understandable. I'd rather just let how KING TUT died remain unsolved, unless you really know what happen. Don't put up stupid little made up story's about King Tut. I do think he died by a war OR he was hit in the head. This is stupid, don't go making up fibs and wanting people to think its real, just like me saying "KING TUT DIED BECAUSE A ROCK FELL ON HIS BIG HEAD" YAY! No, thats wrong. But I agree that the people that made him, made him look like a sissy girl.
Big sister.
I don't really think none of this stuff is kinda true. Because, one, You never know if he got bit by a bug. How do you know that? People making up fairy tales? it's wrong. I mean, People think what they wanna say. Peace.

Posted by: I LOVE HISTORY at October 7, 2008 3:48 PMi think that it is prettty amazing how they made a dead person ... turn out to look soooo real .. i admit they made him a bit gurly but he still has guyish feautres and it also said he was murdered by some one that he knew ... they killed him while he was asleep and hit him in the back of his head......... i wish he could of died at a older age i feel bad for him kzo he was soooooo young !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Posted by: tut's girl at October 23, 2008 1:22 PMactually quite factual and interseting i wish there was more
Posted by: MISSLORENZO! at December 10, 2008 5:10 AMHe didn't die from a mosquito bite, that was Carter, the guy who found King Tut's tomb. And King Tut wasn't black that's just the skin decaying off the bone.it's said that he died of and infection of a broken leg but no one really knows because when Carter and his team transported the body many of the limbs either fractured or broke because they were so fragile, and his team wasn't very careful.the only way they can tell is the embalming fluid that had formed at the end of the bone.so there are two theories-1.died of an infection of a broken leg or 2.knocked over the head with something (there were loose shards of bone at the back of his skull).
Posted by: Rachel at December 23, 2008 10:52 PMIgnoring historical facts does not make common fictions facts.
NOT HISTORICALLY ACCURATE.
WHY DOES KING TUT LOOK LIKE SOME ARAB.
HIS COMPLEXION SHOULD BE CLOSE TO A SOMEONE OF ETHOPIAN DECENT.
"ITS BROWN" NOT OLIVE NOR NUBIAN BLACK...
His skin color should be reddish brown similar to the sculptures found in upper an lower egypt..
THE TRUE DECENDANTS OF EGYPT WERE TOTALLY PUSHED OUT
SIMILAR TO THE CURRENT EVENTS IN DARFUR WHERE DARK AFRICANS ARE BEING KILLED BY LIGHTER ARABS.
200 Years from now would our history books display fair skinned arabs as the original inhabitants of Sudan/Nubia.?? Perhaps...
Posted by: Kalonji at February 21, 2009 3:38 PMi think its cool how they can reconfigure Tutankhauns face and see whta he looked like 3000 years ago.
